In May 2005, NOAA said there was a giant south swell tracking straight for San Carlos. We loaded the van like a seat team on a counter terrorist attack and drove straight through. It had rained for four days before our arrival and the two hour dirt road down a river bed was a complete mess. I'g gonna have to say, for the first time, I didn't know if the Sprinter was going to make it. And I was kinda thinking: a jacked up four wheel drive gas-sucking van from Yesteryear might be a good idea. But the little white mule made it. And so did the swell.
